YES!!!

Dear Readers,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

It’s official: I have land to farm!

You’ll notice the new web address and title of this blog: Butterbee Farm Blog. That’s because, with the help of pretty much everyone I know (thanks, everybody!!!), I will be starting my flower farm this year: Butterbee Farm.

Whitelock Community Farm has, amazingly, incredibly, wonderfully, invited me to grow flowers on a beautiful field adjacent to Druid Hill Park in Reservoir Hill. The field has never been farmed on before, so this coming season, we’ll sow it with a cover crop so that the soil can get its nitrogen fix. In the meantime, I’ll grow flowers along the borders of the active Whitelock Community Farm, as well as some community plots all around Baltimore. In 2014, I’ll move over to the big field!

This year, I will have a Flower Share in collaboration with Whitelock Farm, as well as selling bouquets at their farm stand. I will also sell cut flowers to Local Color, an all-local florist in Charles Village.

There is so much more to say, but for now, I will leave you with some pictures of Butterbee Farm’s new home, and the link to Butterbee Farm’s new virtual home. I’ll be posting regularly from here on out, so you can follow Butterbee Farm from the ground up!
